The point to this post being: yesterday morning I came across an article about what any writer shouldn't do, and the warnings that the writer of the article would like to say to 'aspiring writers'. Naively and embarrassingly, I thought I would've heard it all before. But I hadn't, and it was a massive slap in the face. Not a painful one, a metaphorical one that made me get off my backside and start working, so I thought I'd share it here for other people to read:

'25 things I want to say to so-called "aspiring-writers"'
I'm going to start this post with a little confession: I am sometimes very often a bit contradictory when it comes to writing. By that I mean I get caught up in all these fantastic ideas I have which I spend ages thinking about but then I don't actually get around to writing about them (this isn't so much the case with poems because of their size but with prose it's my worst habit!) Now that my exams are over I've been determined to get writing prose again to keep practicing my writing. I take everything I write seriously and try to focus and work hard on everything I write. But, like I said, I often just sit around telling myself what I'm going to write instead of actually writing it.
